CLARIROVE / MACOS

Separate Mac traffic, internet speed and Wi-Fi link quality

A fast Wi-Fi link does not guarantee a fast download. Clarirove gives you separate views of interface traffic, internet test results and the local connection to your router so you can narrow down which part of the connection needs attention.

Watch traffic on the right interface

Choose an interface or use the automatically selected active connection. The network view shows current receive/transmit rates, session counters and recent traffic history. The readings describe an interface, not a per-application packet inspection.

An idle connection can show low traffic even when it has ample capacity. A VPN or a second interface can also complicate comparisons; check which interface you selected before interpreting the graph.

Test internet download and upload speed

Run a deliberate speed test when you want to measure available throughput. Clarirove supports server choices including Apple, Cloudflare and a compatible custom HTTPS configuration. Compare results using the same server and similar conditions.

The test transfers synthetic data to external infrastructure. It consumes bandwidth, can affect other activity and exposes normal connection information such as your IP address to the selected server. Avoid running it on a metered connection without considering that traffic.

Check your connection to the router

When available, the router view shows the gateway, Wi-Fi PHY link rate, signal and noise information. A short router probe measures round-trip timing and packet loss. It does not measure file-transfer throughput between your Mac and router.

PHY rate is the negotiated wireless link rate, not an internet speed result. A router that ignores probe requests can produce an unavailable result or apparent loss without proving that normal web traffic is broken. Some Wi-Fi details may be unavailable because of macOS permissions or hardware.

Use the results to narrow the problem

Compare a quiet-network internet test with local router timing. If the local link is unreliable, try moving closer or testing Ethernet where available. If local timing is stable but internet throughput varies, compare server choices and other devices before drawing a conclusion.

Speed tests are samples, not a guarantee from your internet provider. Clarirove does not inspect message contents, offer firewall rules or attribute traffic to every application. Use the measurements to guide troubleshooting rather than promising a one-click network repair.

Quick start

  1. Select the active interface and watch traffic while repeating the issue.
  2. Check router timing and available Wi-Fi readings separately from internet throughput.
  3. Run an internet test with a chosen server and compare under similar conditions.

Questions about Mac Network Monitor & Connection Speed Tests

Is the Wi-Fi link rate my download speed?

No. PHY link rate describes the wireless connection. Actual throughput depends on overhead, congestion, the router, internet access and the remote server.

Does the router test measure local transfer speed?

No. It measures round-trip timing and packet loss; it is not a LAN throughput benchmark.

Does the app show traffic for each process?

The current network view reports interface-level traffic, not per-process traffic attribution or packet contents.
